There is no such thing as a perfect family photo session — and honestly, that's exactly what makes them so beautiful.

After more than a decade photographing families in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Durham, and the surrounding Triangle, I've learned that the best images never come from everyone standing still and saying cheese. They come from the chase around the yard, the whispered joke between siblings, the way your youngest absolutely refuses to look at the camera right up until the moment they do — and that split second is pure gold.

My approach to family photography is rooted in who you actually are. I use natural light, real locations that mean something to you, and a whole lot of patience, humor, and genuine connection to draw out the moments that tell your family's story. Whether we're shooting in your living room surrounded by your favorite chaos, wandering through Coker Arboretum as the light turns golden, or letting the kids lead us somewhere unexpected — I'm there for all of it.

As a mom myself, I understand the particular beautiful madness of photographing children. I know that toddlers have opinions. I know that big kids can be self conscious. I know that sometimes the dog is the wildcard nobody planned for. None of that rattles me — in fact, it's usually where the magic lives.
