This is not your typical school photo.

no “cheese” necessary.

Because parents deserve the real thing.

Gone are the days of forced smiles and cheesy props. Instead, I aim to capture the very thing that makes each kid UNIQUE. I create a fun and light experience for my subject which allows them to feel more themselves. The result is often a genuine, honest portrait- complete with giggles and personality!

To live will be an awfully big adventure.

Picture day is coming!

Picture day is coming to your school and I am so excited to create some beautiful images of your little ones! Aside from picture day, the process is entirely online and is aimed at keeping things as simple as possible.

  • I will spend 1-2 minutes with your child, letting their personality unfold in front of my camera. During this time, I keep thing very lighthearted and interact with them in a way that brings out natural smiles and lots of giggles.

  • I understand the importance of minimizing disruption to their class time, so I work hard to get the children back to the classroom as quickly as possible.

  • In addition to individual student photos, I also offer images of siblings that attend the same school. Please let your administrator know if you would like images of siblings together.

  • galleries of siblings together will be a separate gallery and cannot be combined with any other gallery for purchasing.

FAQ For Parents

What if my child misses picture day?

Depending on the school, there may or may not be a back up day available to you. Please check with you school administrator to see if that is an option.

What if my child doesn’t cooperate?

I work with lots and lots of families and kiddos and am pretty good at making them feel comfortable and relaxed enough to smile. Even when a child does not smile, I love to capture their serious side. I cannot guarantee they will all cooperate, but almost all do, and the good news is that you do not have to pre-purchase any images. I will do my best to provide you with at the very least a few beautiful images to choose from in your gallery.

Why I Never Force Kids to Be Photographed:

As a photographer ( and more importantly, a mom) who works with children, I want you to know one thing up front: I never force a child to have their photo taken. Many young children experience "stranger danger"—a completely normal, developmentally appropriate response to meeting someone new. Others may simply not feel like being photographed, and that’s valid too.

Every child arrives with their own emotions, boundaries, and comfort levels. I meet them where they are, with patience and respect. Consent is at the heart of my approach—because every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and in control of their own body. I will always prioritize your child’s comfort over getting the shot. Always.

And here's something beautiful I’ve noticed: when kids see that I actually respect their “no,” and that they’re not going to be pressured or pushed, they usually come around—especially over time. I’ve watched so many little ones warm up after seeing me year after year. When they do come around, it’s that much more special—because it comes from a place of trust.  Once they feel safe, seen, and truly heard, they often end up not just participating, but genuinely enjoying the process.  That’s when we capture the magic: joyful, natural images created from connection, not coercion.

Do we have to participate?

Not at all! If you would rather not have your child's school picture taken, please let their teacher know so I do not include them in the pictures. But since there is no obligation to purchase products in advance, I encourage each child to have their picture taken and you can decide later if you'd like the portrait or not.

What should my child wear?

There is absolutely NO NEED to go out and purchase that perfect outfit for this kind of picture day experience. The focus on these images is on your child’s genuine expression rather than what they are wearing. Basic t-shirts will work just fine. For a more timeless image, I would avoid words/graphics and neon colors (these cast harsh colors on the skin and affect the subject’s skin tone). Neutral, light, or bright colors work best for the simplistic nature of fine art portraits. Please avoid dark, navy, or black tops as they tend to blend in with the background as well as large and bright hair bows that can detract from facial features.

Ordering

All families will be provided with their own private online ordering gallery. Galleries are organized by Last name, first Initial and will be password protected. There will be 2-6 images of each child for parents to choose from. Galleries are published within 1-2 weeks of picture day, followed by a week to place your order. All products will be professionally packaged and delivered to the school *(organized by grade or classroom) in 1-2 weeks from final order date. Should you need additional time with your gallery, please don’t hesitate to contact me by email.

How much does it cost?

Even though I aim to deliver not-so-typical school portraits filled with personality, my packages are still very competitive to the more corporate photography companies. I offer a variety of packages as well as high resolution digital images. There is absolutely no purchase necessary. Feel free to take a look at my sample school photo pricing here.
